So the title, Girl in the Arena, is really a double entendre, isn’t it? Our gal Lyn wasn’t on the floor of the Colosseum much, but she was in the public arena fighting for her life throughout the book. She was in the spotlight, hounded by paparazzi and her life was affected by the swell and ebb of public opinion.
She was also manipulated by a company reminiscent of the company store in the old coal mining towns and pressured by a mother who was too weak to make good choices no matter how much she loved her kids.
This book was thought provoking and interesting and I enjoyed thinking about it and chatting about it for three days.
