Well, I was meeting a couple of friends at the Mall of Georgia yesterday and guess who happened to be at the Barnes and Noble store doing a presentation? Diane Z. Shore, with her book This is the Feast.
How cool was that?
I borrowed my friend’s camera and got a quick shot of Diane, dressed as a pilgrim talking to a bunch of kids about her trip over to America with all the other pilgrims. She told them a lot of interesting things, including that they should drink beer, not water, and they shouldn’t take baths more than every couple of weeks because too many baths might scrub their skin off. Heh heh. I’m sure their mothers appreciated that.
Sorry the picture isn’t better. I couldn’t figure out how to use the camera phone. I’m lucky I got anything.
Well, I’ve heard from many of you that the books have arrived, so we’re planning the tour for Monday through Wednesday of this coming week. I’m hoping we’ll have plenty of fun Thanksgiving posts for this tour.
Here are the basics for the tour.

The description of This is the Feast:
When the Pilgrims embarked on their legendary Mayflower voyage in 1620, they couldn’t predict what lay ahead of them. In search of religious freedom and a new life, the settlers faced hardships including harsh storms, illness, and unfamiliar terrain. Thanks to their natural perseverance and the help of their neighbor Indians, the Pilgrims survived their first year. And when the harvest the next fall was plentiful, the Pilgrims and the Indians joined together in a three-day celebration, the first Thanksgiving.
Diane Z. Shore’s lyrical, rhythmic verse and Megan Lloyd’s lively, joyful illustrations bring the Pilgrims’ harrowing experience to life and demonstrate the strong bonds for which we give thanks every year.
Her bio:
After 9½ years, 385 rejections, and a forest of sloppy copies, teacher-turned-author Diane Z. Shore published her first picture book, BUS-A-SAURUS BOP, a rollicking, rhyming read-aloud, and winner of the 2004 Children’s Choice Award.
Now a full time author and read-aloud advocate, Diane writes in a variety of genres and her books have been translated into many languages. Her books include LOOK BOTH WAYS, ROSA LOVES TO READ, THIS IS THE DREAM (Civil Rights Movement), THIS IS THE FEAST (Thanksgiving), and the forthcoming THIS IS THE GAME (Baseball), plus her new beginning reader, HOW TO DRIVE YOUR SISTER CRAZY, a HarperCollins I Can Read!™ inspired by and written especially for reluctant readers.
Diane travels across the US with her lively “A-Rockin’ and A’Readin’ school presentations inspiring thousands of kids to read! Visit her website at www.dianezshore.com

If those of you have received the book and are going to participate in the tour would please email me sometime before Monday, I’ll put up a list of participating bloggers.
Thanks so much. Sorry this one has been a little rough getting it all together. I hope you enjoy the book and have fun with some Thanksgiving posts, anyway.
Tune in tomorrow for some specifics about what is required for the tour and how to link properly (when and where). I know we have at least one new blogger with us and some of you who have done a couple of tours need to brush up on this stuff, too.
Thanks!
